27mm shaft, 230cm, speciality deadlift bar. The ATX DEAD LIFT Bar is finally here. It is similar to the popular Ram Bar. It works the same way but has a bit more whip. This is due to its longer and thinner shaft.
We also sale an all-rounder comp bar, a comp-spec Squat Bar (Raptor), and calibrated olympic weight plates. Sold separately.
The DEAD LIFT Bar comes from the ATX Barbell Club division of ATX. It is the approved bar for the OLO RAW INT'L PRO-AM.ATX powerlifting bars are very popular among powerlifters, so the ATX speciality Deadlift Bar is long-overdue. ATX is known for their high-quality bars. It's great to see them add the DEAD LIFT deadlift bar and RAPTOR squat bar. You can now have the complete set of ATX powerlifting bars! :)
ATX ® barbell bars undergo the following material tests in a German independent testing laboratory:
A deadlift bar is thinner and longer, compared to a normal competition powerlifting bar. The shaft is 27mm, compared to 29mm, and it is 230cm long, compared to 220cm. The IPF (International Powerlifting Federation) uses the same bar for all three lifts. This bar is the IPF approved Ram Bar 2.0. In contrast, the WPC (World Powerlifting Congress) uses a standard competition powerlifting bar for the bench press. They use different specialty bars for the squat and deadlift. These include the Texas and ATX bars for squats and deadlifts, respectively. A bench press and squat bar are usually very stiff. In contrast, a deadlift bar is made to be flexible. It has what is called "whip."
Again, this depends on the powerlifting organisation. The IPF will use the same bar for all three lifts – check out our IPF Approved bars. Whereas other organisations, including the BPU and WPC, will use a speciality deadlift bar.
If you compete with a group that uses a deadlift bar, it’s good to get to know one.
