NOTE: This seminar teaches material that may be new to many individuals regardless of experience level; however you must be able to overhead squat, front squat, and be able to perform a full snatch and full clean with an empty bar in order to participate fully.

LEVEL 1 - CHINESE WEIGHTLIFTING TECHNIQUE

INTRO: Use Chinese weightlifting methods to improve your snatch, clean, and jerk technique under the guidance of expert coach at Ma Strength: Manuel Buitrago. IN THIS UNIQUE WEIGHTLIFTING SEMINAR YOU WILL: Learn Chinese weightlifting technique using China’s professional learning progression for the snatch, clean, and jerk. Have your lifting evaluated individually and within a group setting to learn from others. Practice this style of lifting with weights attendees feel comfortable with while receiving verbal cues from experienced coaches. Attendees should expect to learn Chinese weightlifting technique as taught in sports schools throughout China and learn an intuitive way to teach this lifting style others. This is a very practical hands-on seminar for experienced athletes who want to improve their ability to perform the lifts and coaches who want to learn an alternative way of approaching the snatch, clean, and jerk. Olympic weightlifters, CrossFitters, trainers, and coaches are welcomed. We will be drilling A LOT so be prepared to lift and be prepared to learn. Coaches can audit the seminar if they wish to not lift.

LEVEL 2 - COACHING & PROGRAMMING

INTRO: Armed with a knowledge of Chinese weightlifting technique and programming, join the Ma Strength team to learn how to further your training and perform through bodybuilding, strength training, and assistance movements. IN THIS UNIQUE WEIGHTLIFTING CLINIC YOU WILL: Best practices for programming strength training A basic framework for choosing assistance movements Biomechanical analysis of muscular groups Hands on practice with frequently used bodybuilding, strength training, and assistance movements. The first portion of this seminar is primarily lecture-based for coaches who want to enhance their coaching skills. Experienced athletes who want to improve their understanding of weightlifting techniques are welcomed as well. The latter portion covers coaching cues for implementing Chinese weightlifting technique through hands-on instruction and group critique. Instructors can shadow if they wish not to lift or can use a video of their athlete for critique.
